Rat rods harken back to the days with the old timey hot rods of the 50's and 60's, yet use many of the modern day features found on cars today.
The look and feel of most rats rods may give you the impression that they've been thrown together or that they're unfinished, only having the bare essentials necessary to be driven. Old paint, a bit of rust and a spot or two of primer help lend to that unfinished look. But don't let appearances fool you! That's exactly how their owners want the vehicle to look.
Meant to be driven, unlike the trailer queens of the show circuit, rat rods are not made to be shown off. More often that not their bodies consist of a hodge-podge of miscellaneous parts working together to form the whole which is to loosely imitate traditional hot rods of era. Their interiors will quite often feature few amenities though there is a growing trend to add a little comfort in this area, no doubt brought on by the uncomfortable wives of rat rodders.
